Addiction Triggers

Be aware of addiction triggers. It may be a place, a person, or a time of year. It may be during times of stress, or times of celebration. Some things are best avoided, especially in early recovery. If you're an alcoholic, going to a bar might not be in your best interest. Consider alternatives to what you've always done before. Go somewhere different for New Years where you won't have temptations. If possible, spend less time around people who may be triggers for you. If it's a family member, perhaps get therapy to work through the difficulties. If you know there's an event coming up that may be stressful for you, think about ways to get through it without turning to your drug of choice. Youc an get through it without using.
