Alcohol and Drug Triggers

Triggers for alcoholics and drug addicts can come in all different ways. Avoiding bars or old hang outs can help. Sometimes just not feeling well, either physically or emotionally, can be a trigger. There are various ways to accept or work on these situations. Therapy, whether physical exercise, PT, or talking to a therapist can help. Try sharing your difficulties with your sponsor or a friend. Make a list of your concerns and possible solutions. Do something to take your mind off yourself for awhile. Attend or play a game. Go to a movie. Do something to help someone else. Go to a meeting. Sometimes the best we can do is to remember "this to shall pass".
