Addicts Often Self Medicate To Treat Mental Illness

Often addicts are suffering from a mental illness, and choose to self medicate. Bipolar is often misdiagnosed and the meds to treat it can have adverse side effects.

According to an article from The Washington Post on 11/13/2016, there is now a new treatment called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation or TMS. It involves placing on the patient's forehead a small magnet that creates a small electrical current to stimulate a brain region associated with mood disorders. TMS has been found to treat the depression without setting off mania.
